Pleasures of the Door
Hand-bound accordion book, solid color monoprinted paper collaged with laser printed photos. For this project, I began by analyzing the poem, Pleasures of the Door by Francis Ponge. My interpretation of the poem was that it is less about doors, and more about intimacy and connection, or the lack thereof. I chose to represent the idea of touch through tactile construction of the book (collage), which contrasts the imagery of hands interacting with emptiness. The assignment required a 6”x9” page size, with 16 pages plus covers and inside covers.
